Lithium-polymer (LiPo) battery packs are the successors to the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) batteries. The main advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly their power-to-size ratio. They are very small while maintaining a very high current output, which allows for choosing a suitable battery for practically any AEG replica. They have no memory effect. They can be charged very frequently without needing to be discharged beforehand. Frequent charging is even recommended for this type of battery.

It is important to remember that a LiPo battery must not be discharged below 3V per cell and must not be overcharged above 4.2V per cell. Another advantage of LiPo batteries is their low self-discharge rate. When the battery is not in use, it loses about 3–5% of its energy per month.

It is necessary to keep an eye on the battery pack, as during very long storage, discharge below the permissible minimum value (3V per cell) may occur, leading to irreversible chemical reactions that can cause a deterioration in the battery pack's properties, including permanent damage, and in extreme cases, fire. An unused LiPo battery pack should have an average charge of approximately 70%. When used correctly, the lifespan of LiPo battery packs averages 500–700 cycles. An important aspect is the temperature at which LiPo battery packs can operate. Unlike other batteries, LiPo cells have good performance characteristics at low temperatures; however, they must be charged at room temperature. To maintain LiPo batteries in good condition, they should be balanced during charging using the service plug found on most LiPo battery packs (a good LiPo charger has a built-in balancer).
